A different kind of UFC Party – Red, Blue, and Brown Pride
Ok, ok, yes, that’s a play on words. Let me explain.
Last night, we went to our cousins’ house for the Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez UFC fight. The food was great, and there were chair rentals and tents set up by my cousins. After some AWESOME food and lots of mingling, it was time for the prelimbs! The men headed upstairs to the theater room, and most of the girls excused themselves to the bathroom . Cliche right? Haha.. well, we weren’t congregating to powder our noses, I can tell you that!
Nope, this particular “Assembly of the Ladies” was actually weeks in the making. Kylie, our 11 year old daughter has been begging for months to have her hair highlighted. She didn’t want just any ol’ blonde highlights, either – she wanted blue. Right about the time she started begging my mother to take her to have them done, our wonderfully professional cousin who is in accounting at a high end real estate company in Houston, got an extremely wild hair, and got two awesome streaks of electric blue! Kylie was so jealous, she could not stand it! She asked Stephanie (whom she firmly believes is her “Aunt”, and we let her! It’s so sweet!), if she could have her leftover color, and a new bond was born!
I knew we’d only need a little bit of dye to get the job done, so when I stopped by the local drug store to get dye, I decided to act on a whim and get the multicolor box. I figured that if she wanted blue now, she might want red or purple at some point, too!
Well… that kinda backfired on me! Guess who decided to get red? Haha.. yep, ME! Crazy, I know, but I figured… if they can do it, by golly I can do it!
So here we are! I’m sitting in the impromptu salon chairs along with Kylie and one of their neighbors.
Our cousin, not pictured, did a FABULOUS job! She was VERY patient, and so brave to make her colorful marks on our flowing heads of brown! This was more than a 2 hour process, which included many, many little boys peeping around the corner with their lightsabers and blasters, as well as the occasional grown male who emerged from the man cave upstairs to spy and take their shots at us for being so crazy!
There were lots of jokes made about Kylie being able to “get away with it” at her school! We all had a good time discussing it with the “school administrators”! I think this is what Kylie loves best about being homeschooled! WE make the rules!
It was a very sad end to the evening when the men came moping down stairs because Brock didn’t hold out very long against Mr. Brown Pride. For now, there are four happy women who have their very own type of Red, Blue, and Brown Pride! It was TONS of fun, and we know where we’ll be going for touch ups when our colors fade!
Hahaha! I would’ve been very torn about what I would do – either help with the hair or watch the fight. I LOVE the UFC fights! Ortiz was taken down like nobody’s business by Hamill. It was beautiful. Especially since Ortiz coached Hamill in The Ultimate Fighter.
Anywho – the hair looks great! Love the colorful streaks!
Haha… I’ll just tell you.. I never go upstairs once the fights start! If it were baseball or something, maybe, but I’m not so into the fights! 🙂 You’re still awesome, though!!!! hahaha
Well, now you’ll kind of match me 🙂
Wow! That looks like so much fun! We might have to steal your style! I love this post-and the title!
where can i find that product?! my girls would love it.
Walgreens!
That looks like a fun party! You are a very sweet mother.
Haa haa…
One of the beautiful perks of being the “school administrators” WE make the rules… love that aspect of Home schooling too!
My girls are soooo spoiled.
I won’t let them see this post though cause I’m not sure if “Mr. Principle” will allow it here. 😉
Love it though personally!
LOVE IT!
Ohhh I LOVE the way your hair turned out!!
