Tropical Traditions Oxygen Bleach Review and #Giveaway
Being one of the head haunchos for a nonprofit organization is a wonderfully fulfilling duty. I am the Operations Manager of a small public charity that does not get much recognition outside of our own fast growing community of a specific genre, however, the work we do has been known to not only help families – but change their lives.
That said, there is, at times, a dirty side to this job! Yep, I’m in the business of cloth diapers – The Cloth Diaper Foundation. Before you cringe.. yes, the diapers that we are donated are mostly used, but when they come to me they are clean! Let’s be real, though – diapers stain – an that’s ok.
I recently had the opportunity to try out a great product from the awesome and very trusted Tropical Traditions. Did you know that
they sell more than coconut oil? Before I decided to test and review their Oxygen Bleach, I the number one question I asked was “Is this safe for use with cloth diapers?” Not only did I receive a reply that “yes” it is safe for diapers, I looked on their site, and guess what was right there in the Uses and Instructions:
Laundry
* In the laundry Oxygen Bleach is used to destain, deodorize, and whiten. It is very effective as a laundry presoak for heavily stained articles. For light soils add 1 ounce of Oxygen Bleach with your laundry detergent per load. For moderate soils use 2 ounces and for heavily soiled articles use 4 ounces.
* To whiten and deodorize diapers add 4-6 ounces of Oxygen Bleach into the soak cycle. Soak in hot water for at least 30 minutes, or overnight, then complete wash cycle.
* For whitening old linens and yellowed window shears, deodorizing and cleaning tennis shoes, or to get rid of yellow armpit stains on shirts: soak in 2 ounces of Oxygen Bleach per gallon of water for at least one hour, or overnight, then rinse.
Sure, sure, there is some controversy over bleach and oxygen bleach and cloth diapers, but you know, I’m a firm believer in – you do what you have to… in moderation. We’re not asking you to use this product every time you wash your diapers, just for the times that you have those can’t-get-out-stains! Remember, it’s NOT chlorine bleach, it’s oxygen bleach based on sodium percarbonate.
This stuff doesn’t stop there, either! You can visit the site for more awesome around the house instructions for use for things like cleaning your garbage disposal, a bath/shower scrub, cleaning carpets or lawn furniture, and even restoring your wood deck! The options are limitless!
Just for grins and giggles – there have been MANY snags in this review! First, I was going to show you how clean Braxton’s baseball socks and pants got after soaking, however, they were BEAUTIFULLY clean, and my boys dropped my camera. Strike 1. I found a different camera, and wouldn’t you know, Brax blew the knee out of his baseball pants before I could get them sparkly white again, so that was a no-go. Strike 2. THEN it happened. Check out this pic I snapped of these socks washed in regular detergent with added oxygen bleach of a different brand. We were in a rush after back to back games, and I just threw them in my regular wash. My husband and I were both shocked at how much of the stains came out after soaking for only about an hour and washing with Tropical Traditions Oxygen Bleach. (Red dirt is a booger to get out! Seriously! We’re definitely going to be trying an overnight soak!) Hit it OUT of the park!
