Day 3: Flats and Handwashing Challenge – #flatschallenge #clothdiapers
Well, the good news is… we have water tonight! We didn’t lose pressure like we did last night!
Of all weeks to lose water, two nights in a row, we lose it during the flats challenge!!
We shall persevere!
I like to use flats a couple of ways! I like the origami fold when I’m looking for a quick fold that I don’t have to think about. I think it’s because I’m more used to folding this way. I also like to use the kite fold, but for some reason, I always have to take a look an already folded diaper, or online, to remember how to do it!
The easiest for me is the pad fold, because there’s really no right or wrong way to do it, and when you have a flat or blanket that’s not completely square, it’s just easy to do! (It’s also easier than having to snappi the flat on the baby!
I ALSO like to use flats as quick, light blankets. Yes, call me crazy, but if I can use a receiving blanket as a flat, you better bet your britches that I’m using a flat as a blanket!

I am taking part in the Second Annual Flats and Handwashing Challenge hosted by Dirty Diaper Laundry. For 7 days I will be using only flat cloth diapers and handwashing them in an effort to prove that cloth diapering can be affordable and accessible to all. You can learn more about the rules and why this challenge was started by visiting the announcement post. This year there are over 450 participants from all over the world!
