I’m pretty sure this kind of post is all over the internet and all over Pinterest by now (I haven’t looked) but for the sake of me being behind the times and not thinking about this until Thanksgiving, I’m going to pretend like my Grandfather was the first person to ever think of this – How to Store Fresh Lemon Juice!

My Memaw and Papaw have a lemon tree in their back yard and they have the best lemons.  It’s cool, because they’re different from store bought lemons, because the tough outer peeling that you’re used to, is SO not tough.  These lemons are so soft and smooth on the outside, I gave one to Andy and told him it’s as smooth as a baby’s behind.  They’re really cool.

But let’s face it – who needs 100 fresh lemons at one time?

How to Store Fresh Lemon Juice

If you have your own lemon tree, this is great for keeping the juice!  If you find a sale at the store on lemons, and you come home with more than you can use at one time, follow these simple steps to keep your lemon juice fresh for the next time you need it.

How long can you store freshly squeezed lemon juice?

  • Refrigerated – 2-3 weeks
  • Frozen – 3-4 months

How to Store Fresh Lemon Juice

  1. Gather the lemons you’d like to use.  Make sure they are ripe and ready to be squeezed!
  2. Use a juicer to express all of the juice from the lemon.
  3. Optional – Strain the pulp from the lemon.  Some recipes work better without the pulp, and the pulp can often make the lemon juice more tart or bitter.
  4. Pour into an ice tray and freeze.
  5. Take the cubes out of the ice tray and put them into a heavy duty freezer bag or freezer proof container.
  6. Always make sure you let the baby help you when you’re juicing lemons!  The faces are priceless!
