Doomsday Preppers… crazy?
Andy and I are sitting here watching Doomsday Preppers, and can I just say.. wow.?!
Let me just preface by saying that I completely agree with being ready for something to happen. Having your paperwork in order and in one place, keeping a supply of food and water, and even getting together firearms, just in case…. but these people basically prep for a specific event.
This episode we’re watching, this guy met this girl on a dating site, goes to Columbia to get to know her, and invites her back to America to marry him. Cool right? Ha. She had no idea what a prepper was. She wass a bit freaked out by this guy. I don’t blame her.
Can you imagine falling in love with a guy, moving to a different country to marry him, and then finding out that you’re not really all that “free” because the guy you love lives his life like he’s going to have to “bug out” and live off grid at any moment?
I’m pretty sure I’d have hit the road as soon as I found all of it out!
She married him anyway!
A friend of mine has a “bug out” bag and they do occasional drills in the home in case someone breaks in or something happens, but it’s completely normal. Her husband was in the military, and he’s all about being ready. Makes sense.
Are you a prepper? Do you know someone who is?
I definitely think some of those people are completely crazy!
Nope, I’m not a prepper at all.
No extreme prepping for me…
HAHAHA I remember this episode. Her facial expression was priceless. We have a “Bug Out” Bag, Water and Food Supplies, ETc. just in case. We don’t have it because we fear the end of the world but a few years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter we had a massive ice storm that knocked out the power to our whole town. Our house had no heat or electricity for 3 weeks. It was horrible, not to mention we had a 3 year old also at the time.
We weren’t prepared for something like this and noone else was either, food and supplies were quickly gone from the shelves and it was scary. So now I have a little back up plan just in case something like this happens again. 🙂
I’m a prepper but no where near the way these folks are.
Where do they “bug out” too?
I am not really a prepper either.
I’m not a prepper, but I do think that having supplies on hand in-case a disaster of some sort happens is important.
I have to say I”m not but I think the drills you talk about your friend doing are definitely perfectly normal. Honestly if there is going to be a day when the majority of the people would actually be wiped off the face of the earth I think I would rather go with them then to deal with the aftermath.
