Set a World Record to celebrate Earth Day? Sure did! | #gcdc2013 #houstoncloth
Happy Earth Day, everyone!
What are your plans for Earth Day? Perhaps you were one of the thousands of people who celebrated this weekend, and joined a Great Cloth Diaper Change location in your area. We surely did!
While I co-hosted and co-organized the event, Andy attended and participated in the record setting by changing Jett’s diaper precisly at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 20th. It was part of a global initiative to raise cloth diaper awareness as well as set a world record for the most cloth diapers changed in a 24 hour time period!
Our location at AcroKids Academy in Website (SE Houston) had 68 Adult/Baby pairs, which was a high for us! We’re expecting even more next year!
Below are photos of the room in which Andy and Jett participated as well as my BFF and co-host Lourdes with her little one Lucas as well as my two favorite midwives, Melissa who changed someone else’s baby and Jaymee who changed Elora! This room had 26 participant pairs!
I was finally able to put some names to some faces, and I made SEVERAL new friends! It was a great event, and a great way to spread the word about cloth diapers in our community.
Before photo. Per Guinness rules, each participant had to hold up a 100% reusable, commercially available cloth diaper. Andy and Jett are in the top left corner under the LML Events watermark.
After photo. Also according to Guinness rules, each participant had to hold up their baby after they completed the change. Can you see Andy and Jett?
Professional photos as well as random photos were not allowed during the actual change, for obvious reasons, however, after Andy was finished with the change, he snapped a pic of Jett! 🙂 This year, we wanted to go with a simple, frugal diaper. We chose a SoftBums shell with a flat diaper. Actually it was a $1 flour sack!
Here are pics of the larger room with 42 participant pairs!
