Moby GO Baby Carrier Review | #babywearing #attachmentparenting #ap
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of attachment parenting? To me, it’s become a way of life, but before that happened, the first thing that would pop into my mind would be a mom or dad wearing their baby in a carrier. Babywearing is an age old tradition among mothers who want to keep their babies close as well as be hands free.
Several of my friends have floorboards or trunks full of several different types of baby carriers – one for every occasion. Until we cleaned out the van and replaced all of our carriers with just one, I was the same way. Jett and I were recently given the opportunity to review the new Moby Go, and I have to say, that it’s now the carrier that I reach for anytime I need an extra hand.
The Moby GO, by Moby Wrap, Inc., is an easy to use, comfortable carrier that is great for wearing your little one out and about as well as around the house.
I like that when I’m wearing Jett in the Moby GO, he’s in a seated position which is great for his hips and legs, and I like that the wide straps make it comfy on my shoulders and my back!
Moby GO Features:
- Wide shoulder straps continue the Moby Wrap tradition of superior comfort
- Easy-to-reach side buckles adjust for the perfect fit
- Cross-shoulder design evenly distributes weight
- The carrier seat is designed to allow the correct support for baby
- Unique dual foam waist belt provides comfortable support for parent
Great for all size Mamas:
I like that even though I’m a bigger mama, the Moby GO fit me without having to worry about (and feeling self conscious about) an extender clip. This is a big plus for me, as it’s not always easy to find buckle carriers for mamas like me.
Hood Feature:
Although Jett’s at the age to where he doesn’t really like anything on his head, I like that the Moby GO has a pocket on it that stores a hood in case we need it to protect him from the wind, sun, or other elements. I like that it’s easily attachable and detachable by Velcro.
Tightening Side Buckle Issue:
The only downside that I have notices with the Moby GO is that in order to adjust the straps and make them tighter, the design of the Moby GO requires you to pull backwards on the straps to tighten them, rather than forward. It’s a tad complicated to get the correct fit by pulling backwards, and I find myself doing a bit lifting and holding (even jumping) in order to take Jett’s weight off of the carrier for a brief moment while simultaneously pulling backwards on the strap. If the straps were designed to pull forward, where most people have more arm strength, it would be easier to adjust!
Final Verdict:
We love it. Jett’s comfy, I’m comfy, and it’s a great carrier! Although the Moby GO fits babys from 15-45 pounds, it’s ideal for older babies on the go. Even though the Moby GO was not designed for back carrying, I’ve heard tales of smaller mamas being able to have the straps across their chest comfortably.
At $79.95, the Moby GO is a great option for a low cost carrier. Find a Moby GO retailer.
Disclosure: I was given a Moby GO baby carrier for review purposes. I was not compensated for my post. All opinions are my own.
Looks like it works well. I used one with my kids. Love the last photo.
Oh that is a super cute carrier! Man it makes me want to try to have a baby again just so that I can carry her/him around in one!
That is a really nice carrier. It looks comfortable.
I didn’t use a carrier with my children.
I’ve seen people carry babies around in these types of carriers and the baby always looks so uncomfortable. Looking at your photos this carrier looks A LOT better then others I have seen. Your baby looks comfortable in it. It looks like it was made with their comfort in mind, which is great. It seems to have enough support for their bottom without leaving them dangling.
I’ll keep this in mind when any of my friends have a baby and are in the market for a carrier.
I loved using my Moby wrap with Katie, it was so comfortable and I totally get what you mean about being a bigger mama. Is it weird that I want to get one of these and carry Katie around again even though she’s 4?
That carrier does look a lot more comfortable for both baby and mother. And with being adjustable for larger women, I bet it would be a good choice for grandmas who babysit to use.
