Why are you attending The Big Latch On? #LatchOnHouston13 #houston
The Big Latch On is this weekend, and the Houston area locations are being held on Saturday, August 3rd.
This year, we decided to attach The Big Latch On to Houston’s first annual Natural Parenting Expo! As part of the registration, participants were asked the following question:
The Big Latch On was created to help bring local awareness to the benefits of breastfeeding as well as to bring the breastfeeding community together for support and education. What are you hoping to get out of this event?
Here are some of their awesome answers!
S.G. has been breastfeeding for 9 months – North Houston:
“I want to join in the movement for education and community regarding breastfeeding! Not enough people are seeing it in the right light and I want to share the love! I am also hoping to meet some other fun moms with kiddos my kids’ ages and have a great time.”
M.M has been breastfeeding for 17 months – Lufkin
“Just to hear from other moms about their breast feeding experiences and learn about the small businesses associated with this event.”
D.A. has been breastfeeding for 5 months – Bay Area
“Be part of something bigger as a family, and have something to show my child later on and say “we were part of that!” :)”
D.C. has been breastfeeding for 2 months and 3 weeks – North West Houston
“I’m hoping to get support, I’m fairly new to breastfeeding and I never knew how hard it would be. The weird looks and stares from people are a bit intimidating at times, so I’m looking to help normalize breast feeding, the way a baby SHOULD be fed.”
I.C. has been breastfeeding for 7.5 months – Humble
“A renewing sense of empowerment! A wider support system and having fun!”
R.W. has been breastfeeding for 24 months
“This will be somewhat of a celebration of all the hardwork and time I have put into breastfeeding my children and share that with others and to help make breastfeeding become a more natural and accepted part of society so young mothers will be further encouraged to breastfeed their littles as well.”
K.G. has been breastfeeding for 2.5 months – La Porte
“Just meet like minded parents who are as passionate as I am about breastfeeding their babies wherever and whenever.”
C.S. has been breastfeeding for a total of 52 months – Houston
“Awareness”
M.H. has been breastfeeding for 9.5 months – Cypress
“I’d love to bond with some like-minded moms, especially because many people I know are starting to hint that it may be time to wean my 9 1/2 month old simply because of his age and the fact that he has some teeth. I really need some support :)”
K.C. has been breastfeeding for 6 months – Southwest Houston
I only know one other person who breastfeeds, so I’m hoping to just meet other people who breastfeed!
A.M. has been breastfeeding for 32 months (and counting!!) – West Houston
Spread awareness and normalization!!!
C.L has been breastfeeding for a total of 16 months (currently on months 2 with twins!) – Alvin
Just sounds like fun!
