Most Memorable Moments in Television | #tv #music
Do you have any songs that just tear at your heart and take a perfectly good mood and turn it upside down for a few minutes? Most of the time, for me, those songs come in the form of tragic and memorable moments in my favorite TV shows from our local cable tv services provider. I don’t know if it’s weird or not to love songs that give me a sense of sadness, but here are three of my most memorable moments in television.
Denny Duquette’s Death on Grey’s Anatomy
I really fell in love with Denny. I already liked him on Supernatural, and it was great to have him on Grey’s. From the time Izzy met him, I knew I was going to love the show even more, but I also knew that there was no way that it was going to be a happily every after part of the show. Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol was the perfect song in this scene.
Marissa’s Death on The OC
This scene was one of my first most memorable moments in TV seven years ago (wow, it’s been that long?). I remember being absolutely shocked by this episode. I hated Cam Gigandet for a while after this episode! But for some reason, Andy and I both don’t remember this scene being done to the song Hallelujah. We both remember it being to Imogen Heap’s Hide and Seek, so I’m guessing the scene/song correlation wasn’t really that memorable at all?! But the scene definitely was. (That song was this episode.)
Opie’s Funeral on Sons of Anarchy
Sons of Anarchy takes television to a much higher controversial and memorable level than most shows that I’ve seen. There have been a lot of WOW moments in SOA, but the most memorable one for me was Opie’s death. It was awful and brutal. I was absolutely speechless when it happened. Although there really wasn’t a tear-at-your-heart-strings song at the time of his death, Andy and I both like the song that they played at his funeral. (If you want to see something else pretty emotional following this episode, here’s how they said “goodbye” to Opie off camera. Sad.)
And then… there’s Dean.
I have other memorable moments from SOA (Gemma had a sad and controversial episode) and other shows like One Tree Hill, Army Wives, Without a Trace (when Sam was taken hostage), and CSI NY when Angel was killed and Ruben, Danny’s little friend was shot.
What are some of your most memorable tv moments?
SOA. I remember Opie dying was the one episode I literally sobbed in. The song was a wonderful choice for his funeral.
And every so often when I need an Opie fix, I watch the way they said goodbye to him off camera. It was such a fitting, yet emotional way to say goodbye.
Oh man yes, Opies death. It was just so sad.
You might be too young to remember Moonlighting, a series that starred Bruce Willis and Sybil Shepard back in the early 80’s. I loved that show, and it had such good chemistry between the two stars. The episode where they finally admited that they loved each other, and shared a delicious sexual scene (where you didn[t actually see anything but knew it happened) was just, well, memorable.
That last one cracks me up everytime.
