Dying Easter Eggs Naturally | #Easter #EasterEggs #Natural
Dying Easter Eggs naturally is actually far less complicated and time consuming than it sounds. It’s actually a really fun science experiment that the kids will love! The chemistry and science behind finding the right color for your eggs is pretty awesome in and of itself.
To dye your own eggs naturally you’ll need white hard boiled eggs and vinegar. There are a variety of options available that you can use for dye material, but considering that kids will be helping, it’s always a good idea to start simple.
-
To make yellow eggs, use ¾ teaspoon of turmeric for every two cups of water.
-
To make orange eggs, use 2-3 yellow onion skins.
-
To make lavender eggs, use 2-3 red onion skins.
-
To make blue eggs, use purple cabbage leaves.
-
To make pink eggs, use two cups of fresh cranberries.
The actual process of dying the eggs is pretty straight forward. Place your eggs in a pot and cover them in water, adding one teaspoon of vinegar per cup of water. Add your dye material and bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for fifteen minutes, after that you’re good to go!
Remember, if you want a more intense color use more dye material. Use less if you want a less intense and more pastel color. Have fun dying eggs!
