Five Ways to Sneak Veggies into Children’s Food
Most kids won’t touch their vegetables. However, there are ways to get even the most stubborn child to eat their vegetables without dinner ending in a meltdown.
Veggie Mac n Cheese- Adding small bits of broccoli to macaroni and cheese isn’t the most subtle method, but kids barely notice thanks to the cheesy goodness they’re eating.
Sweet Potato Fries- Instead of regular potato fries, cut up some sweet potatoes, cook them in olive oil, salt, and pepper just like you would normal fries, and serve them to your kids with ketchup. They’ll love the sweetness of the fries, and you’ll love how fast they gobble them up!
Spinach Smoothies- Adding a handful of chopped spinach to a berry smoothie isn’t even noticeable if blended properly. The sweetness of the fruit and the thick yogurt balance out any spinach (or other leafy green) that you added.
Avocado Eggs- While avocado is technically a fruit, it makes a great addition to scrambled eggs when chopped up into small pieces. It adds a buttery texture to the eggs and adds much needed brain proteins for your growing kids!
Spinach Meatballs- Add finely diced spinach to your meatball mixture and cook as usual. Between the meatball sauce and meat itself, your kids won’t be the wiser!
Getting your kids to eat their veggies doesn’t have to be a battle, just get creative!
Our little man loves sweet potato fries. These are all excellent ideas. Fortunately we got lucky – our son loves fruits and vegetables.
Great post and something I am sure I will need in the future for my granddaughter. Right now she loves veggies at almost 2 years old. Today she ate 2 large tomatoes as if they were apples!!
