The most common infant ailments are :
- GER
- LER
- Flathead Syndrome
Over 50% of newborns experience acid reflux at some point during the first 6 months (Lawrence. A PhD)
GER, or Gastroesophageal Reflux, occurs when stomach contents flow back up into the esophagus. Because it takes about 100 days of life for a child’s digestive system to become fully devleoped, proper positioning of the baby’s head is extremely important in aiding in the reduction of GER and discomfort.
The Snugglish Baby Seat is lab tested to improve the positioning of the baby in an inclined surface to help reduce the likelihood of GER.
LER, or Laryngomalacia, is a congenital softening of the tissues of the larynx (voice box) above the vocal cords which causes the cartilage in the larynx to collapse. You may recognize it LER as the main source of noisy breathing in infants. On top of that, the presence of GER worsens the onset of LER, and proper positioning helps reduce the risk of further issues.
The Snugglish Baby Seat‘s patented slanted design helps reduce the risks of LER.
Flathead Syndrome, or Plagiocephaly, affects nearly 47% of all newborn babies in the form of flat or misshapen spots on their heads The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that infants sleep on their backs to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related deaths (AAP). As a result, pediatricians have seen an increase in the number of children with positional plagiocephaly, or positional skull deformities (flat heads) (AAP)
The Snugglish Baby Seat is designed to offer a non-flat surface to help prevent elongated exposure to flat surfaces such as a crib.
