LeapTV – Active Video Gaming for Younger Kids | #LeapTV #Gamer
My boys (including the one I’m married to) are very much into gaming. So much so, that our oldest son is dubbed The Gamer, and he is 100% convinced that it’s his life calling! His younger brother (The Entertainer) just wants to fit in and play along with him and his friends, and the Minion, who is now three years old is just a nuisance to both of them! Until now. Now… he has his own active and educational video game to play – The LeapTV by LeapFrog!
LeapTV is a great way for little ones, ages 3-8, to get in on the gaming fun while actually getting up off of the couch and moving more than just their thumbs! LeapTV is great exercise for your little one’s body and mind!
The Hubby and I like how you can set up different profiles for each kid, that way, the seven year old plays learning games on his academic level, and the three year old plays games that teaches him at his level. Other gaming systems we have only allow for us to customize their avatar or character which has a coolness factor, but no points for education! With LeapTV, the education factor is out of this world!
The good thing about the LeapTV Active Video Gaming System is that even though the box and all the paperwork states that it’s for ages 3-8…. old kiddos enjoy taking time out to show their siblings how it’s done. At our party, the 10 year old kids were just as happy playing the game as the 3-7 year old kiddos!
The LeapTV System includes: console, motion-sensing camera, camera mount, transforming controller with wrist strap, HDMI cable, 16GB memory, and build in Wi-Fi for downloads.
Retail price for the device is $149.99, and you can purchase bundles (including multi-player) for a great price as well!
There are over 100 game (including downloads) so your kids will never run out of games and the system will grow with their educational needs!
Exercise for the Body:
With a motion sensing camera, your kiddos can be the star of their own game! It not only captures your child’s moves, but it actually shows them on screen as if they are their own gamer avatar! With so many active games, your kids will stay on the move with activities such as running, hopping, tip-toeing, scuba diving, waving their arms, and The Minion’s favorite, martial arts!
Exercise for the Mind:
While your kiddos are moving around during gameplay, they’re also learning core skills such as reading, mathematics, science, and problem solving! LeapFrog is pretty awesome, and the LeapTV provides access to LeapFrog’s Leaning Library of more than 100 game cartridges, game downloads, and videos, which are all designed or approved by LeapFrog’s team of gaming and learning experts.
Of course, at our LeapTV party, The Entertainer (7 yrs old) was up to bat first while playing LeapFrog Sports. Not only is he a math genius, but he’s also has a pretty good eye for the ball! This was a great game for him to show his friends how to play!
Concentration at it’s finest! You see the strap? The strap is a MUST!
While you can set up to four people to play a game at a time, it’s also fun to watch the other kids so interested in what is going on when their friend is playing solo.
Our party consisted of a room full of kiddos experiencing LeapTV’s Dance & Learn game as well as LeapFrog Sports. And cupcakes! Every party needs cupcakes and an awesome Teenager to help out!
Disclosure: I received free LeapFrog products in order to host the LeapFrog sponsored MommyParty. The opinions expressed here are my own.
My 6 year old just saw a commercial for this and almost lost her mind. She wants the LeapTV so bad! I do have to admit that it looks like fun! Your kiddos seemed to really enjoy it!
It’s really cute, and it’s a great way to get the little ones up and moving while playing! Fun, fun!
Now I want a LeapTV! This would he great for our homeschool since we play to learn!
I think it would be PERFECT for homeschool!
This system looks like so much, I will be sure to share this blog post with my friends and family with kids that fall into these age groups. This would make such a cool Christmas gift!
Definitely a great Christmas gift!
Oh it looks like a lot of fun. I bet grandma would like to play too.
I wanted to set it up today and play around on it by myself, but time got away! I’ll probably do it tomorrow! haha!
I love that it is usable for such a younger age. My 3 year old often wants to play video games with the 8 year old but she doesn’t know how, then gets frustrated and that turns into mommy playing for her. Plus if it teaches her something at the same time that is just a huge win, win.
This is awesome – I would have loved it if something like this had existed when I was a kid! In fact, I just ordered a dancing game for *Myself* this week so that I can get more cardio during winter months when the weather is bad!
We have this too and it is so much fun! The kids love it!!
This looks like something that would be great for my daughter. I will definitely be adding it to her Christmas list.
Wow, it looks like all the kids were really enjoying the LeapTV. I especially think it’s good to give kids active time when they have to stay indoors more due to winter weather.
We outgrew LeapFrog years ago, but I love seeing how they keep moving forward with technology. They will always remind me of a simpler, less violent video game time!
