Do your kids have a bedtime routine? | Netflix #StreamTeam
When I was younger, my parents were pretty strict when it came to bedtime. I remember in my elementary years, my bedtime was 8:00, middle school years, it was 9:00, and by high school, I had to be in bed by 10:00. I’m not sure if we were hard to get to bed or not, but I’m pretty sure that when my daddy told us to get in bed, we did it. I remember having a record player in our room, and we’d listen to Disney books on record as our bedtime stories… Do you remember this? “You’ll know when it’s time to turn the page when you hear the chimes ring like this….” and then Tinkerbell’s little chime comes on.
My kids are a little different than me. Especially during the holidays and messed up routines, I hear a lot of talk about kiddos who are hard to get to go to bed, and I just can’t fathom it! We’ve never really had an issue with our kids going to bed and I am SO THANKFUL for that!
I can honestly tell you that we don’t really have a set bedtime for our kids. The older boys pretty much fall asleep when they’re tired (which is always early). They love to sleep. The Teen has to be off of her phone at 9:30, but she pretty much goes to sleep when she gets all of her chores and homework done. She sets her own alarm, so she knows when she has to get up.
Sidebar: Can I tell you how super excited we were to receive a box of 80’s goodies from Netflix? Holy Moly, we’re in love with the jammies!
The Minion, I have to say, even though he has no trouble falling asleep, he’s definitely a staller. Its not necessarily troublesome, but he’s different than the other boys and won’t go to bed on his own. We have a routine, but once he’s down, he doesn’t give us issues.
Check out this chart to see where your kiddos fall on the list!
I would have to say that the Minion is most DEFINITELY like Garby and is an “I’m thirsty and hungry!” staller! (I would have to say that the Teen would be Inspector Gadget!!)
So check out this awesomeness. My Minion is stuck on “5 minutes.” Everything pretty much revolves around 5 minutes, 5 more minutes, in 5 minutes, 5 minutes ago…. So the next time he asks for just 5 more minutes before bedtime, I’m going to tell him he can watch an entire episode of Dinotrux! Here’s the kicker! Netflix features Dinotrux 5 Minute Favorties, so he will get what he wants, and I’ll get what I want! Win/Win!
