Days Out The Whole Family Will Love
On a weekend, there is nothing that I love more than going for a day out with my family. Sometimes this is just the six of us, other times we choose to invite extended family and friends along. Wherever we decide to go, we always like to ensure that we have the best time.
Sometimes, it can be hard knowing what to do with the kids on the weekends. This is partly because doing children’s activities all the time can get boring for us parents – we need to have fun as well. And also due to the weather that we have in the UK – we never quite know what to expect, do we?
To help make deciding what to do on the weekends a little easier, here some ideas the whole family will love, come rain or shine.
Go to the beach
We are lucky to live near some beautiful beaches, but I know that not every family has the luxury of having a beach nearby. However, there should be a beach within an hour or so of you, which is ideal for a family day out. (It might take some planning, but a day at beach club Sardinia is worth making the effort for.)
You might be thinking that the beach is only a sunny day activity, but it doesn’t have to be. For cloudy and drizzly days, welly boots and a waterproof coat can make the beach the perfect day out. Head to your local beach, let the little ones build sandcastles and splash in the sea, and then head to a cafe for a hot drink to warm up. They have a 2 group espresso machine, which makes good drinks for all the customers.
Visit a theme park
For a weekend with a little adventure to it, visiting local theme parks is the perfect activity. Obviously, it’s important to realise that what your children will be able to go on will depend on their ages. However, if you choose a theme park that has a section suitable for toddlers and children, the whole family can have fun.
Don’t head to the theme park with just your partner and the kids, invite family and friends along. That way, not only do the kids have other children to play with but if you and your partner want to go on any rides, there will be enough adults to watch the kids.
Organize a family bike ride
If the whole family has bikes, organize a family bike ride. If not, you can also rent one through services like a Peddling Pelican bike rental. Pack up a picnic and head out on your bikes for a day of cycling – just make sure to choose a route that’s off road. While cycling is great for kids, cycling on the roads is far too dangerous. So it’s important to pick a route that doesn’t go on any roads – cycle paths are ideal for riding with little ones.
When choosing the route, make sure to make it suitable for everyone. If your child will be riding his/her own electric bike, not sat on with you, don’t opt for a ride that’s too long. The Wisper 806 has been voted a Which Best Buy in the electric bikes category. Kids get tired easily, and it’s important to be mindful of that. However, if they are serious about cycling and even want to join cycling races, you may consider looking for coaching programs that can help develop their skills.
There are plenty of days out that you can plan that the whole family will love; these are just a few ideas to get you started.
