We have some new additions to The Johnston Gaggle!
Hey y’all! The Johnston Gaggle has grown by THREE!
First of all, we gained a SON-IN-LAW! We are super excited to announce that “The Teen/Weirdo” isn’t a teen anymore. Weirdo, yes. She’s still that, but now, she’s married and we couldn’t be happier! They had a very small wedding in my parents’ backyard with our favorite friend and Justice of the Peace! We hired a wedding photographer to help us remember this intimate day. If you’re like us and looking for wedding photographers Mooresville contact Whitley Ritter – Photographer.
Our little girl is MARRIED. We gained another son!!
Before all this happened, we got these guys – and we’re STILL “Between the Kids”! The first little guy is Biggs Darklighter. We got him at about 5 or so weeks old, and we fell in LOVE! He’s a Nigerian Dwarf, and he’s now wethered (neutered) so he won’t be as stinky as an unaltered male goat! He’s still just as silly, though!
A few weeks later, we got this guy. His name is Greedo, and we traveled to Livingston to get him from a really neat family out there. He started out VERY skiddish, but now, he’s more attached to me than anyone else. This is how they slept all the way home. They become brothers really quickly.
Biggs LOVES to ride around in the car. His favorite place to go (like the rest of us) is Chick-Fil-A. He’s getting a little too big to sit in my lap and go for rides these day, but he’s so cute!
We bottle fed both of them until about 8-9 weeks, because it was about time that they moved outside! We had to start a kitchen remodel which included installation of Insulated Cold Room Doors, and with that, we didn’t want them hurting themselves or getting in the way because “personal space” isn’t exactly their strong point.
They love to lay on their slide. Every morning when I go to feed them, they’re both squeezed tightly together on the top of the slide!
The most common misconception about goats is that they DO NOT EAT EVERYTHING. If you’re looking for a lawnmower, get a horse. Most goats (including ours) rarely eat grass. They prefer the roughage that is higher up on trees, weeds, and thickets.
Yes, they have a trampoline, and I DO have video! I’ll post that soon!
