The Computer Teacher from the Black Lagoon Review | #readingrocks
I’m not sure if it’s all schools or just Barbers Hill, but Hawk has this thing called “Reading Rocks”, and they have to read 50 books in a certain amount of time to be able to go to a “Reading Rocks” party. It’s designed to get kids used to, and enjoy, reading books with their family members.
This time, we dropped the ball. Even though Hawk has read numerous books in the last couple of months, we haven’t really thought about writing them down. It wasn’t until the night before last that we realized that he only had like eight books on his list. So this morning, I dug into the boys’ bookshelf and grabbed 40ish books for him to read last night.
Some of the titles include:
- The Computer Teacher from the Black Lagoon (My favorite)
- The Class from the Black Lagoon (Hawk’s Favorite)
- How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food?
- My Messy Room
- Fire Truck
- Trucks Trucks Trucks
- Eyes & Nose, Fingers & Toes (Sesame Beginnings)
The book that is my favorite is The Computer Teacher from the Black Lagoon by Mike Thaler and pictures by Jared Lee. This series is genius, but this particular book, brings computer words to life as it twists words and descriptions as kids often do! Here are a few of my favorite excerpts from the book:
Everything the computer eats goes on a menu.
I heard it also has a spell hex and a cursor that can turn you into a frog and file you away.
You also have to look out for The Hacker, avoid THE BLOG, and don’t get tangled up in the Internet.
It’s such a cute book! I highly suggest this one for your little one. I’m not really sure how to tell what age this book is for, but I’m thinking it’s for kids K-1st?!
My mother in law loves books, so I’ve asked her to look for some more of the Black Lagoon books for Hawk!
