Seasons change. Life changes with them.
Guess what I’m not doing today!? I’m NOT stepping on the scale! I’ve decided to wait until after Thanksgiving, and possibly mid December to step on the scale again! I have 12 more pounds to go, and I know I can do it, I just need to get in the right mindset — and do my own thing!
Repeat after me:
Not having to step on a scale weekly is liberating!
It really is! Yes, support is a HUGE factor in successfully living a healthy life and losing weight, but for some people, there comes a time when the support can turn from “you are doing great, you can do it” to more of an over-expectation and a counter-productive stress factor. Sure, when you’re in the spotlight, people want to see you succeed and hold you accountable for that, but face it – sometimes, you have an off day, week, or even a few months, and the last thing you want to be reminded of daily, or weekly is the fact that you’re in a rut and can’t get out of it!
Remember, when I started this back at Easter, I said it was a mental decision I had to make – no one else could make it for me. When you’re at a plateau, essentially, you’re the only person who can bring yourself out of it. For some people (I happen to be one of those people), if you’re not in the mindset of the goal or prize ahead, no amount of support can help you out of it. Don’t get me wrong, there are people that a support system helps, no matter what, but I’ve found I accomplish much, much more lately doing my own thing.
That’s why I have eliminated a few stress factors – that dang scale being one of them. What works for someone in the summer may not work for them in the fall/winter. Be it schedules changes, weather changes, time changes, what have you, life is all about evolving into what the future holds – not hanging on to what the past done for us.
Seasons change. Life changes with them.
I will be focusing more on THIS kind of scale over Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the New Year! Portion control is a huge factor in
eating healthy! No, I’m not going to carry this thing around with me to all of our holiday parties, but I will will be doing this week is going through and weighing different kinds of foods to get a bigger feel for just how much I should be eating over the next month!
This scale even comes with a calorie counting portion control book! I received one of these scales when I went to New Orleans with Bloggers on Bourbon this summer, and I love it!
You can purchase one of these scales on Amazon, and it’s eligible for FREE prime shipping!
Good for you Lisa! I have always said that people know their own bodies best and know what works best for them. I think, and my opinion is really not based on anything educated – HaHa, that you can tell more by how your clothes fit and your energy level than by what the scale says.
I am so proud of you for keeping up with your goal no matter how you go about achieving it – YOU ARE A ROCK STAR!!
Good luck with the holidays. HUGGLES!!
HUGS! Good for you for finding BALANCE… and using the appropriate scale to help you see the results you seek! As always, I am here for you to help motivate, push, and hold you accountable if you ever need me! 😛
Yeah you! 🙂
I like your new scale. I too will be stepping away from my scale in about a week. Here’s to some awesome holidays with good decisions! We can do it 🙂
good luck on the no scale initiative, for me that would be too scary im worrying if i don’t have my scale and usually when i go scale free its easier to gain it right back. weight myself daily keeps me in line and helps me judge my progress
have a great thanksgiving
Lisa I know that you can do this, and I am proud of you for knowing that you need a break from the scale. You know what you have to do to keep losing and that is what is important. I think getting hung up on numbers can make things worse. So knowing that you are better off taking a break is good.
Keep up the good work and have a FAB Thanksgiving! Love ya girl! I miss ya too, you and your jet set life these days. Lol
