Bezzerwizzer Game from Mattel for Preteens to Teens
Before Christmas, I received a game from Mattel for review called Bezzerwizzer, a tactical trivia game for preteens. I was looking for something for my soon-to-be-twelve-year-old, and somehow, out of all of the items I put on my list, this is what I was sent! (I don’t remember adding this game to my list at all!!)
Last night, after the boys fell out, Andy and I sat down with Kyliebelle to check out the Bezzerwizzer game. I don’t know if we were just tired, or what, but the rules and directions confused us so much, that we just put them down and decided to make up our own rules for the first time to play.
I’m kinda glad we did. The set up was so in depth, that it would have taken us at least an hour just to figure out what in the world was going on with the game.
Kylie set up the game board to her liking, and we started playing! Bezzerwizzer is supposed to be a game of tactical triva with trickery and strategy, but we just asked questions!
For a casual game, the questions were hard enough for me and Andy, much less Kylie. We played the game very loosely and gave her many, many hints, until she got the answers right, however, I don’t see this as something fun for her to sit around with her friends and play.
Questions that we would know, but 12 year olds may not would be things like…
“What was Marilyn Monroe’s real name?”
“What is the common name of the hot smoked herring that is a popular breakfast dish in England?”
“Which of our Presidents has the nickname “Barry” in his Childhood? (Actually, Kylie knew this one! I had no idea.)
“On what sea does the Ukrainian port of Odessa lie?”
My personal favorite on this card…
“On “Sesame Street”, what character looks like a vampire and does things strictly by the numbers?”
The categories range from Architecture to Technology and Traditions & Beliefs to Food & Drinks. There are also categories like TV & Radio, Geography, History, Humans, Film, Art & Stage, etc.
Overall, Kylie said she had fun with the game, and she wants to play again today, so I guess that’s a plus! This is actually a good trivia game for homeschooling kiddos ranging from preteens to teens, because even if they don’t know the answer to begin with, they leave the game with a little more knowledge when they started it.
