You may or may not know this, but, last year, before getting pregnant, I lost close to 50 pounds. My goal was to lose 50 pounds in 8 months, and I was on track to do so, but plateaued right before getting there! I was involved in a group that was great motivation and support for the first 30-35 pounds, but after that, it ended up becoming about me advertising the group rather than me focusing on the task at hand.

I’m not one for New Year’s Resolutions. Never have been. Probably never will be. I’m ok with that. That’s life.
HOWEVER, this year, because I know I can do it, I’m going to get rid of this baby weight with no goals, no expectations, and no pressure from my peers. Why? Because, like I did when I started my previous weight loss adventure, I’m doing this for myself.
I do have a number in mind, but now that I have four kiddos, a full time job, and so much going on, I am not going to pressure myself by joining up with another outside cavalry for validation. I have plenty of friends and family member who 100% support and encourage me.
Andy and I have decided that starting Monday, we’re going to start a fun weightloss game between ourselves. I’m doing this mostly for Andy, because I know he will win. Not because I won’t try, but because overweight men have been proven to lose faster than women. ….And because money is the great motivator, we introduce.. The Great Deflation.
The Great Deflation
Our Rules of Deflation – Round 1
- Pot starts with $50. ($25 from me, $25 from Andy)
- Each week, we will weigh in on Monday (or maybe Tuesday, because I hear there’s a Tone up Tuesday thing or something.. I’ll have to find it).
- For each pound LOST, we will throw $1 in the pot.
- By the end of our first leg, the person who has lost the most pounds will win the pot to do with whatever he/she so chooses.
- We are unable to partake of weight loss medications or supplements of any kind.
- We must utilize fitness tools from around the house OR the pavement outside – no gym memberships. (We have invested far too much money and time in the stuff we have at home!)
Andy set the first end date for Easter, which is April 8. This will give us THREE MONTHS for our first round of deflation.
So, from the words of K.T. Oslin: Come next Monday, I’m going to bed early. I won’t talk dirty for a week or two! I’m going on a diet, just like sugar, honey. Come next Monday, I’m gonna give up on you!

I love that my “You also might like…” is pic of your. Choc Banana Nut Cake. Totally support you! And totally agree its not fair that guys can shed it faster. But, you do have hormones on yourside right now! I lost 70lbs after my little one not even trying. And yes, I know it doesn’t work that way for everyone one.

This is the first time, I see game like this one. But I consider it very interesting and I think it can helps weight losing. Cool idea. I definitely needed that especially after 3 kids and 3 time weight gain:(
