Weak Job Market Leaving Grown Children Needing Financial Support from Parents in UK

Recent figures have revealed raising and supporting a child until they are 21 costs parents over £225,000, but even once the grown child leaves home, they still very often have to rely on their parents for financial support. image by photostock at A study conducted by Fidelity revealed that 25% of parents still financially support their 30-39 year old children. In the 1960s it might have been possible for young adults to find a job, a house and live a financially independent life. For most people however, this is no longer possible and the question of course is: What has…

Five Elements to Perfect Pop Secret Forts #PopSecretForts

Thank you to Pop Secret for sponsoring our fun with forts and today's post! I really felt bad for my kiddos over Christmas break.  Pretty much the entire time, it either rained or it was wet and cold because of the rain and cold fronts.  Their Nana gave them new bikes for Christmas, and they weren't even able to ride them.  It was tough keeping them busy inside, because (as you know!) the last thing kiddos want to do on their break is clean the house all day!  So what else was there to do to keep away the boredom?…

Reports cards made their way into our hands last week, and for the most part, the kiddos had pretty good grades.  The Teenager's grades were all passing which is a miracle since she's missed 20 days this year so for due to all of her broken bones.  The well, soon, we'll be changing his name to "The Genius".  The Gamer had passing grades, but his Language Arts grade is pretty low because he is just not a fan of sitting and reading books. In our school district, we have a program called Accelerated Reader and to make a long story short,…

My son has awesome teachers this year!

The other day, I wrote a post about being responsible for teaching my kids responsibility. Last week, I had a parent/teachers (more than one teacher in second when did that start?) conference with The Entertainer's teachers, and I found out he's not so much The Entertainer anymore!  He's smart enough in some areas to be in third grade, but we all agree that he's testing the new teachers waters and pushing all the limits! Of course, one of those limit is withholding evidence.   The he's showing me all of the incriminating evidence of misbehaving.  What he's NOT showing me…
