Set a World Record to celebrate Earth Day? Sure did! | #gcdc2013 #houstoncloth

Happy Earth Day, everyone! What are your plans for Earth Day?  Perhaps you were one of the thousands of people who celebrated this weekend, and joined a Great Cloth Diaper Change location in your area.  We surely did! While I co-hosted and co-organized the event, Andy attended and participated in the record setting by changing Jett's diaper precisly at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 20th.  It was part of a global initiative to raise cloth diaper awareness as well as set a world record for the most cloth diapers changed in a 24 hour time period! Our location at AcroKids…

Cloth Diaper saves the Baseball Game | #clothdiapers #houstoncloth

Did I tell you about the time the cloth diaper saves the baseball game? Not too long ago, we were at a friend's baseball game when it started to rain.  We kinda knew it was going to rain, but we didn't think it would rain until later.  The umpires were unprepared.  They didn't bring towels to dry the baseballs off. They were all scrambling to find a towel, when a mom from the stands said "I have a pair of practice baseball pants!", and she offered up the gray, polyester pants.  They were happy with that. Now, the cloth diapering…

The French are saying Bras don’t work! Would you go without?

This morning, while I was laying in bed, waiting to make sure Jett was still asleep before I got up to see the boys off to school, I was reading the news on my phone when I ran across an article on how there was a French study claiming bras don't work!  From what I understand about the French culture, neither do razors or deodorant! They're basically saying that bras don't really ease back pain, and they can actually cause more sagging.  Who would have thought?  Pretty much, and this is my favorite phrase in the short and sweet article,…

Healthy Eating Habits for Teenage Boys | #teens #health #food

The “awkward” teenage years are fraught with many challenges, especially for growing boys. For some, growth spurts and hormonal changes can make it almost impossible to maintain a healthy weight. For others, the struggles of adolescence contribute to sluggishness and obesity. Whatever the case, chances are your teenage boy is more interested in video games and girls than maintaining a healthy weight or getting enough exercise. If you’re concerned about your teenager’s eating habits, there are several subtle ways to influence his diet. A Teen’s Unique Nutritional Needs Much like an infant, toddler or adolescent, teenagers have unique nutritional needs.…

You’ve got it all wrong, Hawk! | #books #reading #readingrocks

Hawk is participating in the Reading Rocks program at school.  Basically, they have one month (?) to read 50 books.  Each time he reads a book, he has to log it with the date, title, and who read it. The program is designed to get the kiddos interested in reading by themselves and with family members. Last night, I was sitting on the couch, reading The Cat in the Hat to Hawk.  I could tell that he was getting a little antsy, like he'd rather be doing something else. I was right in the middle of the Cat bring in…

Piggy Paint Nail Polish Review – Natural as Mud! | Giveaway (4/8)

Kylie loves to paint nails.  She's been dubbed quite the nail artist in our small town.  Anywhere she visits, she's either pulling out her nail polish, looking through someone else's stash.  Sadly, she's not allowed to paint her (or my) nails in the house, because the smell gives my husband a headache.  That all changed when the Piggy Paint came in! odorless | hypoallergenic | water-based | hard, durable finish When she opened the box, the first thing I told her was that it doesn't smell - at all.  Immediately, she wanted to get her homework done, so that she…

Moshi Monsters Character Encyclopedia Review & Giveaway | #MoshiMonsters

Until last month, I'd never heard of Moshi Monsters.  I'm so eager to get my kiddos thinking of things other than Legos and Star Wars, that I put just about anything else in their hands! (Instagram Photobomb!) What are Moshi Monsters, you ask?  Well, I had to ask that, too.  When I received the Moshi Monsters Character Encyclopedia, I took a look at it before my boys got their grubby little hands on it, and found this cute little intro: Welcome to the gloopendous world of Moshi Monsters, a weird and wonderful place brimming with crazy critters of all shapes…

Mommy’s Bliss Sweet Slumber Review | #review #baby

When you think about Mommy's Bliss products, I'm pretty sure that the first thing that comes to mind is the Gripe Water.  It was with me.  Because we used the Gripe Water with Jett when he was younger, Mommy's Bliss is a brand we trust.  When I learned about Mommy's Bliss Sweet Slumber line, I just had to try it out.  I had no idea that they had more than just Gripe Water. Jett is at the age where he's into everything.  At 18 months old, he's very active, and it takes him a while to get settled down when…

Winter jackets for girls track meets?! Come on, #Spring! | #weather

I read a few posts, on Facebook and in my news apps, that Punxsutawney Phil was being indicted for lying about Spring being right around the corner!  Not too long after that, I saw a meme that said something along the lines of "Spring needs to man up and show Winter who's boss!" Seriously. It's April, and Winter is still trying to hang around, even in the south.  We've had crazy cool temperatures here, the past couple of days, and although I like it, I'm kinda ready for Spring to move in.  Never, would we have thought, that we'd have…
