Remember Little Peggy Ann McKay? | Shel Silverstein

Where the Sidewalk Ends is one of my all time favorite books.  When I was in elementary school, I competed un UIL for poetry reading.  I didn't get anywhere, not because I wasn't good at it, but because my teachers didn't realize that the poems had to be a certain time length, and mine was too short! Here's the poem I recited!     I Cannot Go To School Today by Shel Silverstein  "I cannot go to school today" Said little Peggy Ann McKay. "I have the measles and the mumps, A gash, a rash and purple bumps. My mouth…

Wordless Wednesday: View from my Bathroom Skylight

(I actually went outside to snap the pics, because the hubby still hasn't gone out on the roof to clean the skylight and it makes for not so cool pics!)     While in the tub, reading my book, I glanced up, and noticed that behind the clouds, the sky was different colors.  My skylight has a limited view.  It took several times glancing up to OH WOW, that's a rainbow mixed in with those clouds!

Dear Netflix, Dumb Move! Signed – The Mama Person

*Update Edit - Since this post, I've found out that what I had written wasn't all true, so, I have edited it a little to reflect what others are concerned about! Dear Netflix, My family and I have been members of your service for a while. We started out with one disc, then went to three.  Online streaming was one of the best things ever, then, you introduced the Wii disc to stream on TV.  As if that wasn't cool enough, we were then able to hook up to the Wii online, and then the Xbox (and all those other…

16 pound baby born in East Texas! (WHOA!) How big are your babies?

My sister-in-law and I joke all the time about how our babies, this-go-round, are going to be opposite of the last babies we had. My babies have progressively gotten bigger. (All born circa 38 wks.) Kylie - 7 lb 14 oz Braxton - 8 lb 8 oz Hawk - 9 lb 6 oz My sister-in-law's babies are considerably smaller, like 6 lb (sorry, E, I can't remember exactly). We've joked and joked that this time, it's going to be the opposite.  She keeps saying she's going to have the whopper and I'm going to have a little one.  Fat chance!…

So what are we going to name this baby?

This morning we took the IntelliGender test and the results showed that we are having a boy. Out of nowhere I asked the boys, "So what are we going to name this baby?" Wouldn't you they had great answers. Brax: Darth Vader Hawk: How Luigi? Braxton: Anakin. Oooh, Anakin Skywalker from Episode 3. Andy: I like that. Anakin Skywalker from Episode 3 Johnston. What if it's a girl? Braxton: It's not. That thing said boy? Andy: But what if its wrong? Braxton: Its not. Andy: Ok. What if the test had been yellow and it said it was a girl?…

Texas Rangers Fan falls to his Death in front of 6 year old Son

I love baseball. It is not only my favorite sport, but one of my passions. My kids play ball. We watch baseball on TV. We go to MLB games. Heck, we're even stalking the new minor league team stadium being built less than 3 miles from our house. Stoked, I tell you. Yesterday was a sad, sad day in baseball. Texas Rangers Fan and firefighter, Shannon Stone and his 6 year old son, Cooper, were attending a game at the Ballpark.  Cooper was looking forward to the game, because their seats were right behind out fielder Josh Hamilton. In the second…
