Facebook cited in 1 in 5 Online Divorce Petitions

A friend of mine on one of my Facebook groups asked a great question: Do you ever look up ex-boyfriends or crushes on Facebook?  Do you contact them, or do you just snoop. I have several exes on my Facebook friends list.  Some, aren't. I also have some exes that I avoid like the plague! To me, it's not just like this with ex-boyfriends, but acquaintances I used to have as well!  Oh, come on!  You know you all do it, you just haven't admitted it or blogged about it before! (more…)

Mobile Breastfeeding Truck – Lactivism or Counterproductive?

I checked out this article that a friend of mine posted on Facebook (thanks Amanda) about a woman in Pittsburgh who has this vision to buy an ice cream truck, stick a giant boob on top, and park in front of the public places where women are harassed for breastfeeding in public! PREFACE: Now, I'm allllll for breastfeeding in public.  It's actually my right to breastfeed in public if I so wish.  It's actually the law - breastfeeding in public is legal in Texas. I Breastfeed in Public. But you'd never know it. I'm extremely discrete, and my goal is…

Home Birth Rate Increases by an Awesome 20 Percent

Yesterday, I read that according to a study done by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, home births increased 20 percent from 2004 to 2008, accounting for 28,357 of million in May. In 1900, 95 percent of births were home births!  Can you imagine that being the norm?  That would be awesome! By 1938 less than 48% of babies were born at home, and that number fell to less than 1 percent by 1955.  It's a FANTASTIC day to see the home birth percentage back on the rise! Seeing this study by the CDC is exciting because it is…

Cloth Diaper Stink: Stripping Cloth Diapers in the Dishwasher (Photos)

Do you have stinky cloth diapers?  Does the ammonia smell make you want to give up on your cloth diapering adventure?  Don't give up!  There is hope for your funky stash! When Hawk was little, his diapers developed that "stunk" as I like to call stinky-funk.  Perhaps, it's just because as a child, I always called skunks "stunks". Same thing! I hadn't heard about dishwasher stripping, and I'm sure I wasn't the first, but one day, it dawned on me that even though I rinsed, and rinsed, and rinsed., there was always murky water left over in the washer. Things My Kids Say: My boys on Vacation, Great Wolf Lodge

Last month, we took a trip, with the entire family, to Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, Texas. We had several roadblocks on the way, and the boys (Hawk, 4 and Braxton, 7) were amazed at all of the new, undiscovered-by-them territory we were trekking. At the site of a cemetary - Hawk: That's where you get killed and then you love each other. Brax:  Yeah, that's why there's flowers everywhere. Beside same cemetary - Brax:  Those limbs in the tops of the trees are perfect deer horns. Chit chat about the 2 Slip n' Side Braxton got as birthday presents (one…

Tropical Traditions Organic Skin Exfoliator Review

Win Tropical Traditions Organic Skin Exfoliator! One of the things I have absolutely despised doing my entire life is the whole face cleansing/scrubbing/moisturizing routine.  I know it's extremely important to keep up a daily facial cleansing regimen, but in the past, I've found that my face dries out with every product I've used.  Then, I have to add a moisturizer causing me to sweat or burn! Until now. I started using Tropical Traditions Organic Skin Exfoliator the moment it arrived at my doorstep.   I was hesitant at first, because I wasn't sure what to expect.  I wanted to make sure…

Fireworks-less Fire Safety Reminder for Houston July 4th Events

Happy Independence Day! Think you don't have to think about fire safety today since all fireworks have been banned for like 200 miles in all directions? 1. Watch your BBQ pits, fire rings, and bonfires! Make sure you don't dump you coals somewhere dry OR make sure you flood them with water until there's no more burning or hot coals or embers.  Don't just walk away from them and assume!  DON'T COVER WITH SAND!  Today is a barefoot day - you don't want someone to get hurt! 2. Don't flick your cigarette out the window.  Or just don't smoke. No…

Braxton's "Call of Duty Kingdom" LEGO Star Wars | Call of Duty: Black Ops | LEGO Star Wars III The Clone Wars Braxton: Mom, come look at my kingdom.  It's for my Call of Duty thing. There's some blasters and guns on it for the Wookies and Clones and Jedis.   They're gonna battle the Call of Duty guys.  This is the kingdom I'm making for their protection.  Hawk is making one for the other guys. Sadly, they never really grow out of it.  Where do you think they learned all of this stuff? Please let this baby be a…
