GiveForward Rallies for Autistic Boy Betrayed with Ice Bucket Prank

I have to be honest.  A few weeks ago, when I saw the video circulating Facebook of the  ALS Ice Bucket Challenge prank being played on a 14 year old autistic boy in Bay Village video, I couldn't watch.  Horrible acts like that tear too much at my heartstrings, and it was easier for me to let everyone else spread the word to try to catch the people than it was for me to share the message. Then, I noticed that celebs like Drew Carey, Jenny McCarthy, and Donnie Wahlberg put together a pretty hefty reward to help find the kids…

Netflix TGIF: Pizza and a Movie | #StreamTeam

Now that school has started back up, we all have a ton of things going on!  For us, we have activities six nights out of the week.  Between jujitsu and church, the only night we have absolutely free after school is Monday, and that's usually set aside to get the bulk of homework done for the week!  On Fridays, jujitsu lets out early, so that's the day (if we do not have something else planned) that we like to try to set aside for Netflix Movie Night.  We don't really feel like driving out to the city so I'll most…

Teaching Kindness and Acceptance with Netflix | #StreamTeam

With bullying being so prevalent in the youth (and adults) of America, right now is a great time to talk with your kids about kindness and how to accept others even when they are different from you.  Back to School time is perfect for setting new goals and personal standards for the school year. Sometimes, the best way to help our kids learn about these qualities is through engaging movies. One of my favorite movies from my childhood is The Fox and the Hound.  (Yeah, 1981?!!)  It depicts an essentially "blended friendship" where an orphaned fox and a puppy meet…

Wrapping Up — Keeping the Kids’ Room Warm This Winter

One of the biggest challenges that any new parent will face is the seemingly never-ending saga of how to keep their kid’s room warm during the cold winter months. What temperature should the room be? Should the kids be put to bed with extra clothes on? Should they invest in items that will keep them warm, such as a sheepskin or a couple of electric blankets, or simply keep the thermostat up high all night long? And when should you buy them? Here are things that have been found to work and not work over many years of experimenting. All children…

Eco-Friendly Laundry Tips for Busy Families

It's no secret that laundry requires a lot of energy and water. If you're trying to live a more eco-friendly life style this year, here are a few tips to follow to make your laundry room as green as the rest of your house!
