The Old Mill in Pigeon Forge – Great Historical Vacation Attraction | #brandcation #pigeonforge

I love history.  I love to compare the times and look at where we (as a country) were as well as where we are now.  Times have changed, but that doesn't make our history any less relevant. To add to our awesome itinerary at Brandcation this October is to take a tour of and eat lunch at The Old Mill in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. According to their site, The Old Mill not only provided staples of meals and flours to the early settlers in the 1800s, but in 1935, it provided crucial electricity to Pigeon Forge! Of course, I'm also looking forward…

Walk Off the Earth – My new FAVE cover band! | #wote #music #freakinawesome

This weekend, Andy was searching YouTube for Gotye cover bands, and he ran across Walk off the Earth. They are not only spectacular, but they are unique, creative, and they just flat out sound fantastic! Check out this video of Somebody that I Used to Know with 5 members of WOTE using only their voices and ONE guitar! I'm a sucker for good music, and this, my friends, is GOOD music. Why did it take us so long to find these guys? WOTE YouTube Channel WOTE Twitter WOTE Facebook I also like their Little Boxes video!  (From Weeds)

Titanic Museum Pigeon Forge – I’ll be boarding the Titanic in October! | #brandcation #pigeonforge

One of Kylie's favorite historical stories and movies is Titanic.  She loves reading about the history, relationships, and even looking at all of the cool items that have been recovered from the ship. When I told her that I'd be going to the Titanic Museum in October for Brandfluential: Brandcation Blog Cabin, she was extremely jealous, and wondered if I could smuggle her to Pigeon Forge in the trunk. Sans the ship actually sinking, how cool would it have been to be able to be on the Titanic? I bet my friend Candy, from Serendipity Mommy, would have been a rockin'…

What happened to simple bathtub slides? | #wheniwasakid #retro

My kids are really missing out. Growing up, I remember, even though we moved several times, almost all of our bathtubs has slides on the back. You know what I'm talking about!  Where you rest your back on the tub, there was just enough slant that, as a child, you could put your rear at the top, and slide down it splashing water everywhere?  Sure, we got in boatloads of trouble for doing it, but it was so much fun! Now, all the bathtubs that I've used in my married life, have all had straight backs, unless it was a…

Headed to the Smoky Mountains? Cabin Fever Vacations has you covered! #brandcation

This summer, it was nice to be able to go on a vacation and not stay in a small house or hotel. We went to South Padre Island and stayed in a very nice and very large house for our family of 14!  The quarters were very close, but we had a great time. This October, I'm headed, once again, to my favorite bloggy getaway - Brandcation.  This time, it's called Blog Cabin. For the first time in Brandcation history, all 30+ bloggers (I lost count!) will be under one roof! Thanks to Cabin Fever Vacations, we'll get to know each…

I'm especially excited, this time, because we'll be headed out to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee which is actually where we're planning next year's family vacation.  My dad already has specific instructions for me to gather certain information while I'm there - especially the happenings at: how does THIS look for a road trip???  Lori, from MyKindaRain, and I will depart on…

Affordable Family Vacations – Mississippi Gulf Coast | #travel

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about summer vacations?  For most families who live on the coast, it's hitting the beach and soaking up the sun in the warm sand!  For me, it's the cost!  Vacations can get pricey, but they don't have to if you do your research! As a Texan, I usually think about Galveston or South Padre as great places to visit, and oftentimes, my mind even wanders to Florida.  I never really think about Mississippi as a beach attraction, because my family is Kosciusko, which is centrally located within…
